On the Proper Way to Share a Religious Tradition

When sharing a religious tradition with others, it should be done with a sincere wish to benefit them. It must be guided by compassion, wisdom, and genuine concern for the well-being of others. Religion should never be used for personal gain, self-interest, or the pursuit of power, nor should it be employed to control, manipulate, or exploit others.

The transmission of religious teachings should be based on skillful means, reason, evidence, and the free consent of those who are interested. It should be offered openly and respectfully, allowing individuals to examine and choose for themselves. Religion must never be spread through deception, coercion, intimidation, or methods that lack honesty and integrity.

The true measure of a spiritual path lies in its results. It should bring benefit to one's body and mind in this very life, contribute positively to society and the environment, and foster kindness, wisdom, and inner peace. Most importantly, it should help transform one's habitual tendencies and cultivate the noble qualities of the heart and mind. Through such growth, one becomes increasingly free from suffering and able to live with genuine happiness, contentment, and fulfillment.
